I follow people when I read one of their stories that is interesting or hits me in the feels. Sometimes I'll follow someone who leaves a thoughtful comment on one of my stories. I still haven't quite figured out Medium's algorithm though because the stories that show up in my feed aren't always written by people I follow. Sometimes too my favorite writer's stories don't show up in my feed either. It's a puzzlement!
