Great read, Michele. I’d heard of the Black Madonna, but never knew what it meant. I find it so helpful when I come across female figures like this in faith settings too, so thank you!
This makes me think of something I’d like to share. I happened to hear the Old Testament reading about Abraham and Sara recently and had an aha moment. The text read that God made a covenant with Abraham AND another one with Sara. Hold the presses!! Back up and read that again—is what my mind chanted. God held her up too in a sacred relationship, not just with Abraham as I’d always remembered. It makes them equally important.
