There is a saying that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. Although the origins of this saying are debated, the message is clear. When we're ready to learn something--especially if it’s relevant to our life’s journey--something will show up in our lives to help teach or guide us to whatever it is we need to learn.

This guidance can show up anywhere--in the lyrics of a song, in a comment from a friend, or in the words written on the back of a truck. Like seeing a small firefly in a dark sky, this guidance can be an aha moment and a spark of illumination. If we pay attention to these moments and stay curious, we remain open to learning the lessons life is trying to teach us.

I write about these sparks of illumination moments and the life lessons I’ve gathered through them. I write about my divorce and the struggle of feeling stuck. I write about relationships, dating in my 50's, and life’s many paradoxes. And for a fun change of pace, I write about my adventures in photography.

I write with a curious and open heart. I hope you’ll read my words with a curious and open mind.
